Do you believe that the end is near? Is this how humanity ends? Here are some of the doomsday facts you need to know as well as all the reasons why doomsday is gonna happen. Or at least why so many people believe it to be the case.

Increase in Population

One of the first things people mention when talking about doomsday is the population increase. Today, there are nearly eight billion people living on the planet. And the numbers keep increasing. If we take a look at recent history, we can notice how much things have changed.

Just fifty years ago, the population of Earth was under 3 billion! At the beginning of the twentieth century, there were 1,6 billion people living across the globe. And today, there are countries that are close to this number. There are numerous reasons why the population keeps increasing. Some will say it is due to the comfort people are having these days.

More and more people have access to health care and food too, and there haven’t been major catastrophes to severely affect the numbers. Of course, the situation is far from perfect. Some countries still struggle with health care or food, but the population still continues to increase.

If we take a look at the predictions, many believe that the numbers will keep increasing in the future. Estimates predict that there will be almost ten billion people living on the planet by 2060.

Abuse in Technology

Technology has improved a lot in the past fifty or hundred years, too. And that is awesome. The famous first flight by the Wright brothers happened in 1903, and Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin walked on the moon in 1969. It is rather impressive how far we’ve got in such a short period of time. But at the same time, many people believe that it will be our doom. Technology is improving so fast that many see problems with it.

Today, it is argued that we are dependent or addicted to technology. And let’s be honest, people can’t imagine spending a day without checking their smartphones. Also, there have been a lot of improvements in the field of artificial intelligence, and many people are scared of the Skynet scenario. It is not hard to imagine a world where machines will take over the world, like in the Terminator franchise.

While some see these theories as nonsense, others are counting days until the robolution. It remains to be seen whether our toasters will become sentient and try to take over the world.

Scientific Experiments May Go Wrong

The next one has been a topic of many movies, and it is a scientific experiment gone bad. It is not difficult to imagine this scenario, especially in this time and age. As technology kept improving in the past couple of decades, the experiments became more daring. Scientists are now looking for ways to tackle serious issues, and in doing so, they might end us all.

Just consider the topic of renewable energy. Yes, the idea behind it is great, but what happens if something goes wrong? Just imagine an artificial sun going haywire. Playing with nuclear fission is another great example where even the slightest mistake can be devastating.

At the same time, scientists are working on ways to solve other existing problems like illnesses. And this often means working with dangerous viruses. Just the slightest mistake can result in a deadly virus being loose. And we all know how that could end. The reason why this is so important is that scientists have argued for years now that a global pandemic can make a serious impact on humankind and even be our doom.

Bees Are Dying

You probably saw tiny black and yellow flying creatures that love collecting pollen. Well, they are dying. And they are dying at a high rate. Without honeybees, people will have a whole new range of problems. They are an essential part of pollination, and without them, the entire ecosystem might collapse.

If bees die, it will directly affect plant life, and after that, all the animals that feed on plants. Eventually, the ripple through the ecosystem would reac

h humans as well. The only option humanity would have would be to pollinate crops by hand, and everything else would become a thing of the past.

There is a reason why so many suggest that without bees, everything else will die as well. And there are so many people that believe that the process has already started. We can notice a constant decline in the number of bees across the globe, and even though there are tens of thousands of different species, they are all dying.

While scientists have started working on a plan B (officially named Plan Bee), it would be a lot better if we could solve the existing problem instead of focusing on the backup.

Global Warming Is Not Decreasing

The final entry on our doomsday bingo here is global warming. The planet is getting hotter and hotter, and we can already notice the difference and all the consequences. But some people suggest that things will get even worse. One of the first things we will notice is harsher weather, and it will contribute to higher death rates. After that, the air will become dirtier, while oceans will get more acidic.

Step by step, the planet will become inhabitable, and it will be the end of life on this planet. Whether it is possible to reverse the process and save the world is the main question here. But if we continue ignoring all the signs, eventually, there will be nothing to save.

Now, you are beginning to understand why so many people believe that this moment is five minutes to midnight. And the doomsday clock keeps ticking. There are so many things that could go wrong along the way, and the biggest miracle would be for us to survive.
